Edmund Vallance was born on 5 July 1841. Assistant Surgeon, Staff, 30 September 1864; 3rd Dragoon Guards, 9 March 1867; 2nd Dragoon Guards, 3 June 1868; Staff, 5 January 1870; 19th Hussars, 16 August 1870. Army Medical Department, Surgeon, 30 September 1864; retired December 1875. Although Vallance served with the 3rd dragoon Guards in Abyssinia, his medal is named to his next regiment, the 2nd Dragoon Guards, and is possibly unique to that regiment.
