Auction Catalogue
Charles II (1660-1685), Crown, 1662, first bust, rose below, edge undated (Broad var. AB.3; ESC 15; S 3350). A superior strike, extremely fine or better, attractively toned £3,000-4,000
A detailed die study of these coins appeared in SCMB February 1989. This coin is of variety AB.3, based on the position of the ties on the King’s hair. It also seems to be a further sub-variety showing most of the cloak hatched with very faint lines, “almost like pencil-shading”
