The 56th West Essex Regiment, a very fine officer’s rectangular copper gilt and silver shoulder belt plate to the 56th West Essex Regiment, c1830-40(?), a slightly earlier plate described in Parkyn p221, copper gilt back plate with silver mounts being the crown over ‘MORO’ scroll and laurel wreaths, at the base of the laurels a scroll ‘GIBRALTAR’, within the laurels the three towered Castle with Key below, at the base ‘LVI’, complete with leather liner and the usual four reverse fasteners, some rubbing to the silver mounts and the gilt worn through in minor areas; together with a relic part only of the centre section of the other ranks brass shako plate, battalion companies 1839-1855 (2) £300-400
