56th West Essex Regiment, an extremely scarce die-stamped brass badge to the 56th West Essex Regiment, c1875-1881(?), approx. 3” x 2.5”, featuring the ‘Imperial’ QVC over a small scroll ‘POMPADOURS’, the numerals ‘LVI’, with the motto ‘MONTIS INSIGNIA CALPE’ running across them, below, the County shield all over a tri-part scroll ‘WEST ESSEX REGIMENT’, laurel wreaths in surround and a horizontally lined background to the centre, the two original loop fasteners missing and three crudely soldered replacements fitted £70-100
