British War Medal (1959 Pte. H. Key, R. Mun. Fus.); together with memorial plaque (Harry Harold Key) good very fine £40-50

Private Harry Harold Key was born in Smethwick, Birmingham and lived and enlisted at Sheffield, Yorkshire. The following is extracted from the National Roll of The Great War ‘Volunteering at the outbreak of the war, he was shortly afterward drafted to the Western Front where he took part in the Battles of La Bassee, Neuve Chapelle, Hill 60, Loos and many other engagements. He was severely wounded during the March retreat of 1918 and taken prisoner. He succumbed to his wounds 12 April 1918.’ Private Key is buried in Cologne Southern Cemetery, Germany.
