Second Lieutenant Patrick Arthur Malone a native of Carrick-on-Suir, County Tipperary served in the ranks of the Royal Irish Regiment through the Somme battles, being wounded at Guillemont. After his recovery he received a commission into the Royal Munster Fusiliers with whom he was serving at Epehy during the German spring offensive of March 1918. On 22 March 1918 he received a gun shot wound to his right hand and as a result was sent home to recuperate. Lieutenant Malone died of influenza on 13 February 1919 and is buried at Glasnevin Cemetery, Dublin. Sold with a comprehensive file of research, including newspaper obituary and copies of his P.R.O. correspondence file.
