Gilbert Hemmingfield was born in Sheffield on 30 June 1889, and joined the Royal Navy on 30 June 1914. He served aboard H.M.S. Warspite from April 1915 to February 1921, including the battle of Jutland. Sold with copy service papers and a post card photograph of H.M.S. Queen Elizabeth.
