Patrick Henry Dundas was born in Calcutta on 17 October 1871, son of Donald William Dundas, of the Bengal Police. He was educated at Denstone and joined the Army in September 1892, being appointed to the Indian Staff Corps in January 1894. He served with his regiment, the 6th Jat Light Infantry, on the North West Frontier of India, Tochi, in 1897-98 (Medal with clasp); and in China 1900 (Medal). Promoted to Major in September 1910, he served with the 6th Jats as part of the Indian Army Corps in France from 12 October to 25 November 1914, when he was wounded, and from 17 December 1914 to 17 March 1916. He served with the Mesopotamia Expeditionary Force in Iraq, May 1916 to October 1918; Iraq 1919 (Medal); and in Waziristan 1921-23 (C.B.E.). He commanded the 21st and 18th Indian Infantry Brigades from 1923 to 1927, was awarded the C.B. in 1925, and retired in 1927. He died on 5 September 1936.
