M.C. London Gazette 24 February 1942: ‘For gallant and distinguished services in the Middle East.’

The following recommendation is taken from official records: ‘At Omar Nuovo on the night of 22nd November and during 23rd November 1941 this officer, for a large part of the time under heavy and accurate shellfire, attended to a large number of wounded. In spite of one shell scoring a direct hit on an A.D.S. tent near which he was working, killing three patients, he carried on. His tireless efforts and calmness under fire saved many lives and he was a fine example to all around him. Since the above dates, for a month of continuous action with the enemy, Captain Curran has not spared himself day or night and has worked without respite.’

Gerald Francis Adye-Curranwas born on 26 March 1911, son of Lieut-Colonel W. J. P. Adye-Curran. He qualified in Dublin, LLM, RCP&S (Irel.), in December 1934 and joined the Indian Medical Service as Lieutenant in April 1935, becoming Captain in April 1936. Sold with further research.
