D.F.M. London Gazette 29 December 1942. The following details are taken from Air Ministry records: ‘This N.C.O. was an air gunner in Sergeant Crampton’s crew which carried out a very excellent tour. He was always ready and keen to fly operations. Many of his sorties were carried out against Germany’s most heavily defended cities and he has also raided Italy.’
Sergeant Kemp flew on 32 operational sorties in his first tour with 50 Squadron between April and December 1942. At this time the squadron was equipped with Manchesters and at the end of May converted to Lancasters. Soldwith further details including details of his sorties.
