Liverpool Shipwreck and Humane Society, Marine Medal, 3rd type, silver (To Bombdr. William Roberts No. 677053 R.F.A. for Gallant Services 17/7/18) with silver buckle on ribbon, jeweller’s mark on obverse, good very fine £140-180

‘Silver Medal and Certificate of Thanks to Bombardier William Roberts, R.F.A., Wallasey Town Hall Military Hospital, for gallantly jumping into the river at Egremont and rescuing a boy immersed on July 17th.’ (Ref. Society’s Annual Report).

William Roberts enlisted into the Royal Field Artillery on 23 August 1915. He was discharged due to wounds on 28 October 1918. Entitled to the British War and Victory Medals and Silver War Badge. With copied citation, m.i.c. and S.W.B. roll extract.
