Trooper Charles Rimmer lived at Birkdale, Southport and was educated at Ushaw College Durham. He was killed in action in France and Flanders on 26 January 1916 whilst serving with the 1st Life Guards when he and three other men were buried in a trench by the explosion of a shell. Sold with copied service papers and newspaper cutting, including picture of recipient.
