Five: Private H. Hook, East Kent Regiment

Queen’s South Africa 1899-1902, 2 clasps, Cape Colony, Orange Free State (4048 Pte., E. Kent Regt.); 1914-15 Star (S-8477 Pte., E. Kent R.); British War and Victory Medals (SR-8477 Pte., E. Kent R.); Special Reserve L.S. & G.C., G.V.R. (8477 Pte., 3/E Kent Regt.) first with slight edge bruising, very fine and better (5) £400-500

Harry Hook was born in Ashford, Kent. Embodied with the 3rd Battalion East Kent Militia on 18 January 1900. He served in South Africa, March 1900-July 1902, being wounded at Lindley, 28 June 1900. Employed as a Boatman and a member of the 3rd Battalion East Kent Regiment, he attested for the Army Reserve (Special Reserve) at Shorncliffe on 28 June 1908, aged 33 years. During the Great War he served with the B.E.F. in France/Flanders, 27 December 1914-5 November 1915 and 23 December 1915-26 April 1916. He was discharged as time expired on 28 April 1916. With copied Special Reserve attestation papers and m.i.c.

Awarded the long service medal by Army Order October 1912. Four medals awarded to the unit.
