William Henry Bidlake (1861-1938), a leading figure in the Arts and Crafts movement in Birmingham; b. Wolverhampton; educ. Tettenhall College and Christ’s College, Cambridge; RA Schools, 1882; RIBA Pugin Travelling Fellow, 1885; set up in independent practice, Birmingham, 1887; pioneered the teaching of architecture at Birmingham School of Art, 1893 and director of the School of Architecture, 1919-24.
