The 1st (the Royal) Regiment of Foot, an extremely rare officer’s black crepe layered cockade mounted with a copper gilt cross saltire, at the centre of the cross, ‘NIVE’ and on the arms, ‘BUSACO’ ‘SALAMANCA’ ‘VITTORIA’ ‘ST. SEBASTIAN’; these honours were granted in 1817 and the cockade would have been worn above the shako plate for the period; to-gether with a very fine officer’s shako or part shako plate for the period 1830-1837, a beaded silver star with gilt mount being the pierced Collar of the Order of the Thistle, above the Sphinx/Egypt over a scroll, ‘ROYAL REGIMENT’, centrally the Royal Cypher for William IV reversed and interlaced, (2) excellent overall condition the second item now brooched £400-500
