Frederick Binskin enlisted in the 2nd Dragoon Guards in London in July 1865, aged 19 years, and served in the regiment for 21 years, though without witnessing active service. Awarded his L.S. & G.C. while employed on the Staff of the Army (Recruiting Service), he was was finally discharged as a Colour-Sergeant in July 1889. In the following year he was appointed a Yeoman Warder at the Tower of London, in which capacity he served throughout the Great War, up until his death in August 1920, aged 74 years. Binskin left several freehold properties in his Will, together with 15 acres of land in Dymchurch, Kent, in addition to paintings of himself as a Dragoon Guardsman and Yeoman Warder; sold with a large file of research, which confirms that his Army L.S. & G.C. Medal originally appeared on the market as a single.
