During the suppression of the Indian Mutiny, Ordinary Seaman Green served in No. 4 Brigade of the Indian Naval Brigade on the books of H.M. Pendant Vessel Calcutta. Volunteer Force L.S. Medal awarded to Volunteer W. Green, Northern Bengal Mounted Rifles by I.A.O. of 5 September 1904.
