James Harries Llewhellin was born in Walwyn’s Castle, Pembrokeshire on 31 January 1842. A Shipwright by occupation, he entered the Royal Navy on 19 September 1871. He served on H.M.S. Druid, May 1872-May 1874; initially as a Shipwright; he was ranked as a Caulker’s Mate in September 1873 and Carpenter’s Mate in March 1874. He re-engaged for a further 10 years service in September 1881. With copied service notes and a copied photograph of H.M.S. Druid.
