William Harold McKinnon was born in Lanarkshire on 7 September 1893. A Van Man by occupation, he joined the Royal Navy as an Ordinary Seaman on Vivid I on 12 September 1911. He served on Fox, November 1913-October 1915. Promoted to Able Seaman in February 1916. Later served on the battecruiser Australia, September-December 1917. He was demobilised in June 1919 and joined the Royal Fleet Reserve. With copied service paper and two copied photographs of H.M.S. Fox.
