A.R.R.C. London Gazette 1 January 1947, ‘Liaison Officer Gertrude Jane Simpson Corsar (W/502007), Voluntary Aid Detachment.’

Gertrude Jane Simpson Corsar was born in 1900 and joined the British Red Cross Society in 1928. During the War she served in India, 1944-46. For service as a Liaison Officer with the V.A.D. she was awarded the A.R.R.C. in the New Year Honours of 1947.

With original named ‘Buckingham Palace’ slip to accompany the A.R.R.C. and copied research including a Report on V.A.D. Unit in India January 1945, by G. Corsar, Chief Liaison Officer, and extracts from Sister Sahibs, by Marian Robertson in which Corsar is mentioned several times.
