The Highland Light Infantry Officer’s Plaid Brooch 1881 - 1901. An extremely fine example in unmarked silver, the quoit with a border of floral decoration is overlaid with cast silver thistle sprays, these in turn bear battle honours up to Central India. The open centre is mounted with an officer’s silver and gilt shako/glengarry badge, being the cross of the Order of the Thistle mounted with a coiled bugle horn in the centre of which in gilt is the monogram ‘HLI’, above the bugle a gilt Imperial crown and below the battle honour scroll ‘Assaye’ and the Elephant both in gilt.
