James Moore was born in the Parish of St. Luke’s, London, Middlesex. A Labourer by occupation, he attested for the 89th Foot at Westminster on 31 March 1858, aged 23 years. With the regiment he served over 11 years in the East Indies. He was discharged at Netley on 8 April 1879 after completing his second period of limited engagement. With copied service papers.
