M.C. London Gazette 14 November 1916. ‘Lieut. (Temp. Captain) Lewis Victor John Pogson, Cheshire Regt.’ ‘For conspicuous gallantry in action. He led his company with great skill and determination throughout the operations. He obtained valuable information before the attack. Later, he organised stretcher parties and carried out his work with great energy. He set a splendid example of coolness and initiative to his men.’
Lieutenant Pogson, M.C., Cheshire Regiment was appointed a Flying Officer (Observer) in the R.F.C. (London Gazette 28 November 1917). He relinquished this commission on appointment to the Indian Army on 27 May 1918. As a Major in the Cheshire Regiment Pogson was placed on Retired Pay in 1935 (London Gazette 5 April 1935).
