Military General Service 1793-1814, 2 clasps, Pyrenees, Orthes (J. Campbell, M.D. Hospl. Asst.) suspension slack, edge bruising and polished, otherwise nearly very fine and scarce £1800-2200

John Campbell was born on 19 May 1793, and appointed Hospital Assistant on 25 March 1813. He served in the Peninsula from April 1813 to April 1814, and afterwards in North America and at New Orleans. He was appointed Assistant Surgeon, 7th West India Regiment, 27 July 1815; half-pay, 3 September 1816; qualified M.A. and M.D. (Glasgow) 1818; full pay on the Staff, 23 July 1818; Assistant Surgeon, 30th Foot, 20 February 1823; Assistant Surgeon, 45th Foot, 15 March 1827; Surgeon, 55th Foot, 27 December 1833; Surgeon, 93 Foot, 20 March 1835; retired pay, 20 March 1849; employed on the Retired List as Medical Officer, Greenhaw Prison, 23 April 1849.
