Memorial Plaque 1914-18 (Reginald Alfred Cornish) good very fine £120-160
Reginald Alfred Cornish was born and lived in Leighton Buzzard and enlisted at Westminster. Serving as a Rifleman in the 1/16th Battalion London Regiment (Queen’s Westminster Rifles) he was killed in action on 1 July 1916 - the first day of the battle of the Somme.
Aged 21 years at the time of his death, he has no known grave and is name is commemorated on the Thiepval Memorial. He was the son of Herbert Stockbridge Cornish and Ellen Eliza Cornish, of 6 Wing Road Terrace, Linslade, Leighton Buzzard.
