Queen’s Messenger Badge, V.R., oval silver-gilt badge surmounted by crown with painted Royal Arms in central glazed panel, pendant silver greyhound below, approx. 140mm x 41mm, the reverse inscribed ‘V.R Foreign Office 1876 No. 3’, hallmarked London 1876, rings for suspension, good very fine and rare £1200-1500

Possibly attributed to Edward Henry Liddell, who was appointed ‘Messenger in Ordinary to Her Majesty, in attendance at the Secretary of State’s Office for Foreign Affairs’ on 16 February 1876. He resigned on grounds of ill-health in April 1878.
