James Williamson was born in Fordyee, Aberdeenshire and educated at Portsay. Serving with the 1/6th Battalion Gordon Highlanders he entered France on 10 November 1914. He was killed in action at Neuve Chapelle on 13 March 1915. Having no known grave. his name is commemorated on the Le Touret Memorial.
