Arthur J. Jones first entered the French theatre of war as a Private in the King’s Royal Rifle Corps in late December 1914. Subsequently transferring to the Royal Army Service Corps, he was present in the Waziristan operations of 1919-21, and later still, having transferred to the Royal Air Force, in the Southern Desert, Iraq operations of January-June 1928. He was awarded his L.S. & G.C. Medal in October 1936.
