Private Frederick Walker later transferred to the Labour Corps.

Private William Turtle, Y. & L.R., entered France/Flanders on 10 December 1915.

Private Harry Warner, Y. & L.R. entered France/Flanders on 2 April 1915. He was later transferred to the Durham Light Infnatry.

Bernard Farley was born in Cranbrook, Yorkshire. Serving with the 7th Battalion York & Lancaster Regiment he entered France on 13 July 1915. During the course of his service he was punished variously for absence without leave, disobeying an order and stating a falsehood. He was discharged on 13 March 1919 and went on to live in Darnell, Sheffield.

Private William Fletcher, Y. & L.R. entered Egypt on 20 September 1915. He was later awarded a Silver War Badge.

John George Thompson, a Blacksmith, joined the 1st Battalion York & Lancaster Regiment in August 1902. He finished his service in February 1914 as a ‘Silverman’ in the Officers’ Mess. Recalled in August 1914, he landed with the 2nd Battalion on 9 September 1914 and took part in the battle of Hooge and qualified for the 1914 Star.
