Alistair Hugh Garnet Murray was appointed a Naval Cadet in January 1948 and, on being advanced to Sub. Lieutenant in January 1950, entered service with the Fleet Air Arm. He subsequently served as a pilot in Venoms in the Malaya and Near East operations, operating from the carrier Eagle at the time of the latter conflict in 1956. Having later served as a test pilot at Boscombe Down, from whence he was once compelled to make a forced-landing in a Vampire in the New Forest, he was placed on the Retired List as a Lieutenant-Commander in 1970; sold with brief research.
