Christopher William Poxon was born in Ryton-on-Dunsmore, Warwickshire. As a Lance-Sergeant in the K.R.R.C. he entered the France/Flanders theatre of war on 16 November 1915. As a Sergeant in the 16th Battalion he was awarded the M.M. for bravery in the field. In 1917 he was commissioned a 2nd Lieutenant in the Durham Light Infantry (London Gazette 28 June 1917) and in 1919 was advanced to Lieutenant (London Gazette 13 February 1919). With copied research.
