Daniel Baldwin was born on 24 August 1855. He entered the Royal Navy as a Boy 2nd Class on 9 January 1872. Promoted to Boy 1st Class in February 1873; Ordinary Seaman 2nd Class in August 1873; Ordinary Seaman in December 1874; Able Seaman in June 1877; Leading Seaman in December 1879. Rated an Able Seaman in August 1880. Served on H.M.S. Beagle, July 1880-May 1881. Shore expired on 25 August 1883. With copied service papers and roll extracts.
