William Young qualified in Dentistry as a L.D.S., R.C.P.S. Glasgow in 1923. Appointed a Surgeon Lieutenant (D) in the Clyde Division, R.N.V.R. in June 1928. Promoted to Surgeon Lieutenant-Commander in June 1934. Retired in 1951 with the rank of Surgeon Commander. In 1948 he was awarded the Fellowship in Dental Surgery of the Royal College of Surgeons.
