John Goodwin was born in Bedicote, England, on 30 September 1895. A Baker by occupation, and having previously served for four years in the Oxfordshire Light Infantry, he enlisted into the 71st Battalion at Stratford in September 1915. POsted to the 44th (New Brunswick) Battalion out in France, he was killed in action at the battle of Amiens on 10 August 1918. Having no known grave, his name is commemorated on the Vimy Memorial. He was the son of Edwin Goodwin, of 21 Monument Street, Banbury, Oxfordshire, and the husband of Edith Goodwin, of 25 Stromness Road, Southend-on-Sea, Essex; sold with copied service papers.
