Great War Memorial Plaque (William John Heath); together with original illuminated memorial scroll, inscribed ‘Cpl. William John Heath, D.C.M., Welch Regt.’, good very fine £40-50

D.C.M. London Gazette 3 September 1918. ‘For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty during an enemy attack. At night he conducted a reconnoitring patrol, ascertaining the situation, and dealt effectively with enemy posts, taking several prisoners. He showed great gallantry and initiative.’

Corporal William John Heath was born in Tibberton, Shropshire and enlisted at Bridgend. He was killed in action France and Flanders 23 March 1818 whilst serving with the 9th Battalion, Welch Regiment.
