3rd The King’s Own Hussars, an extremely fine and rare officer’s mess circular dessert plate approximately 9” in diameter, the white ground with a very attractive 1.75” border of gold and mid-blue this embellished with scrolling battle honours in gold white and crimson and laurel sprays in gold and white, the central reserve bears St Edward’s crown over the numerals ‘III’, a scroll above ‘Nec Aspera Terrent’ and one below ‘King’s Own Hussars’, the reverse with gold decoration to the pedestal base and a similar thin gold line to the rim, and the maker’s marks for the Worcester porcelain company 1881; some slight colour loss to the reserve scolls and a small section of the blue border otherwise in very fine condition £250-300
