Military General Service 1793-1814, 1 clasp, Sahagun (B. Loach, Serjeant, 15th Hussars) dark toned, good very fine and rare £1200-1500

A toyal of 104 clasps issued for Sahagun but only 20 as single clasp medals, these all to the 15th Hussars.

Benjamin Loach was born circa 1774 at St Martin’s, Warwick, and was an armourer by profession. He enlisted for the 15th Dragoons in February 1797 and served with the cavalry in Spain during the campaign of 1808-09, where he was present at the action at Sahagun on 21 December 1808. He was discharged to pension at Chelsea Hospital on 16 June 1824 due to age and long service, having served a total of 27 years and 2 months, more than 21 years as Armourer-Sergeant.
