George Saunders was born in Portsea, Hampshire on 23 October 1847. A Labourer by occupation, he enlisted into the Royal Marines at Gosport on 23 October 1862. Served initially as a Bugler, promoted to Sergeant in April 1869 and attained the rank of Colour Sergeant in May 1879. Awarded the L.S. & G.C. Medal in 1875 and awarded the M.S.M. with annuity on 5 January 1929. No other medals awarded. With copied service paper.
