Army L.S. & G.C., V.R., 2nd issue, large letter reverse (Compy-Serjt. P. Meek, Rl. Arty.) slight edge bruising, good very fine £120-160

Patrick Meek was born in the Parish of Olioghald, Ballymena, Co. Antrim in 1817. A Weaver by occupation, he attested for the Royal Artillery at Glasgow on 22 August 1835, aged 18 years. He served overseas in Halifax, Nova Scotia, August 1836-January 1838; Canada, January 1838-August 1843; then again in Halifax, Nova Scotia, April 1849-October 1854. Meek was promoted to Bombardier in April 1845, Corporal in April 1847; Serjeant in July 1849 and attained the rank of Company Sergeant in October 1854. He was discharged at Woolwich on 21 August 1856 having transferred his services to the Tyrone Militia Artillery. He died in 1867.
