John Park, Master of the S.S. Siberian, of Glasgow, was awarded the Board of Trade Medal for Humanity for Saving Life at Sea, for the rescue of the crew of the schooner Little Wonder, of Fowey, on 24 September 1891, effected at great risk and difficulty in the North Atlantic, in a heavy sea and high gale. The Second Mate of the Siberian was awarded the Silver Medal for Gallantry and six members of the crew each received the Bronze Medal for Gallantry with a gratuity of £2.
A total of 37 silver ‘Humanity’ medals were awarded.
