At the request of the British Government to provide medical support to the Allied forces during Operation Desert Shield / Operation Granby, Singapore sent a medical team on 20 January 1991. The medical mission, codenamed ‘Operation Nightingale’ was part of Singapore’s contribution to the United Nation’s effort during the Gulf crisis following Iraq’s invasion of Kuwait. The medical mission comprised 30 men commanded by Major (Dr) Tan Chi Chiu and was attached to 205th General Hospital. Sold with copied details.
