Four: Squadron Quartermaster Corporal George Robb, Royal Horse Guards, a resident of Forth, Lanarkshire, who also served in the 2/2nd Scottish Horse, Lothian and Border Horse, and the 1/1st Highland Cyclist Battalion

Queen’s South Africa 1899-1902, 1 clasp, Cape Colony (368 Corl. G. Robb, R. H. Gds:); Army L.S. & G.C., G.V.R., 1st issue (368 Sq. Q.M. Cpl. G. Robb. R. Horse Gds.); Coronation 1902, bronze, the reverse field scratch engraved (368 G Robb RHG); Forth Tribute Medal, 9 carat gold, hallmarked Birmingham 1899, 40 mm x 34 mm, in the form of a saltire between two palm fronds with stylised crown above, the reverse engraved ‘To Corpl. Robb R. H. Gds. Presented by a few pals on his return to Forth from South Africa. May 1900’, with ring suspension, contact marks, otherwise very fine or better (4) £1000-1200

Corporal Robb was wounded at Koodoosberg on 7 March 1900.

Sold with fine portrait photograph of Robb in uniform wearing Q.S.A. and Coronation medal, and a silver cigarette case, the outer lid with initials ‘G. R.’, the inner lid with engraved badge of The Lothian & Border Horse and dates ‘1909-1934’; together with original certificates of Character and Discharge from 2/2nd Scottish Horse, both dated 20 December 1919; Marriage certificate, dated 18 June 1902; ‘Right of Burial’ certificate for Warriston Cemetery, dated 17 October 1916, and a military group photograph. A Great War medal index card has not been found for this recipient who presumably served at home during the war.
