South Africa 1834-53 (Capt. W. Amsinck, 27th Regt.) with silver brooch bar, good very fine £500-600

William Amsinck was appointed Ensign without purchase of the 92nd Regiment on 1 March 1821, aged 25 years. Promoted Lieutenant by purchase in July 1825 and Captain by purchase in April 1826. Served in the First Kaffir War 1834-35 with the 27th Regiment. Attained the rank of Major in November 1841. With a copied letter relating to his Ensigncy and copied roll extracts.
