Private Frederick Walker served with the 7th Hussars in the suppression of the Indian Mutiny (103 ‘no clasp’ medals awarded) and in the expedition led by Brevet Colonel A. F. Macdonell against Sultan Muhammad Khan, who had attacked the fort of Shabkadar with a force of Mohmans and Bajauris, December 1863-January 1864 (155 ‘North West Frontier’ clasps awarded to the 7th Hussars).
