John Thomas Percy Dunn was killed in action on the First Day of the Somme, while serving in the 2nd Battalion, West Yorkshires, attached 23rd Trench Mortar Battery. The son of William and Susannah Dunn of Lytton Street, South Shields, he was 20 years old, has no known grave, and is commemorated on the Thiepval Memorial.
