Slabbed in CGS UK holder, graded UNC 90. Robert Miles Reincke (1931-90), the Austrian-born proprietor of the island’s luxury Les Castelets hotel, ordered 516 of these coins from the private Lombardo mint in Canada to help alleviate a temporary coin shortage on St Barts caused by the changeover in metal standard of the French 5 franc piece, the nominal coin in circulation.
