Serjeant John H. Owen, 1st Battalion East Kent Regiment entered the France/Flanders theatre of war on 7 September 1914. Later served as a Quartermaster Sergeant in the School of Musketry and Warrant Officer 1st Class in the Small Arms School. Awarded the M.S.M. for his wartime services and awarded the Army L.S. & G.C. by A.O. 150 of 1927.
