Stephen Jackman was born in Exeter, Devon. An Engine Driver by occupation, he attested for the K.R.R.C. at Exeter on 23 May 1886, aged 21 years, 6 months. With the regiment he served in India, February 1889-October 1890; Burma, October 1890-December 1892, and South Africa, December 1901-June 1904. Awarded the Army L.S. & G.C. by A.O. 282 of 1 October 1907. Discharged on 4 January 1910. With copied service papers, roll extracts, census details and other research.
