Henry Boulton was born in Crossimor, Lancashire and enlisted at Barrow-in-Furness. Serving with the 2nd Battalion Royal Lancaster Regiment, he entered the France/Flanders theatre of war on 7 April 1915. He died of wounds on 8 May 1915, aged 27 years. Having no known grave, his name is commemorated on the Ypres (Menin Gate) Memorial and the Newton War Memorial. He was the son of Margaret Boulton, of Garden Terrace, Dalton-in-Furness, Lancashire, and the late Stephen Boulton. With copied research.

Clarence Jennings Holland, son of John Holland, of 11 Albert Square, Stratford, London, attested on 20 July 1915. He entered France in 1916 as a Private in the 1st Battalion London Regiment, was wounded on 7 October 1916 and invalided to England. Commissioned a 2nd Lieutenant in the King’s Own Royal Lancaster Regiment in August 1917 and joined the 1/4th Battalion at St. Emilie, France in October 1917. In March 1918 after adverse reports by the OC., ‘A’ Company, removal of his commissioned rank seemed likely. After losing his platoon he was placed in command of snipers. On 6 August he was noted fit to command a platoon, but on 14 August 1918, at Givenchy, while leading a daylight patrol, he was shot by a sniper on the lip of a crater. Aged 24 at the time of his death. His name is commemorated on the Loos Memorial.
