1st (Robin Hood) Corps Nottinghamshire Rifle Volunteers Officer’s Side Hat, a blue cloth example by Hobson & Sons with embroidered silver lace and silks side badge being a Victorian Imperial crown over RHR (the first R reversed) and motto scroll ‘Evocatus Paratus’ below, black corded frontal boss with silver strung bugle horn badge and correct QVC ‘RHR’ black horn frontal buttons, embroidered into the silk lining are the initials ‘JW’. This pertains to Joseph Wright who joined the Corps on its formation in 1859 at the age of 24 as a private and ended his career as the Lieutenant Colonel (Hon.
